How to enrol

The journey from primary school to high school, or from one high school to another, can be a nerve-wracking time, but it also presents a wonderful opportunity for your child to grow, develop and work towards their goals and dreams.

As a government school, Henley High School’s enrolment process is governed by Department for Education policy. If you are interested in enrolling your child at Henley High School, particular steps must be followed and certain criteria met.

Enrolment criteria

To be eligible for an allocation at Henley High School applicants are required to meet one of the following requirements:

  • The child is living in the school zone of Henley High School
  • The child has submitted an application for the Henley High School Sports Academy and has received and accepted an offer for enrolment
  • The child identifies as Aboriginal through the Enter for Success Program
  • The child is currently under the care of the Minister

There may also be considerations made in the following circumstances:

  • There are accepted compassionate grounds which are approved by the Department for Education
  • Consideration may be made for younger siblings of current students who reside out of zone (conditions apply, sibling rights do not extend to Sports Academy families)
  • Last of all, for any remaining vacancies, an equitable process will be employed to make fair offers to out of zone students.

Department for Education transition process

The Department for Education runs a state-wide primary school to high school transition process during Term 2 each year. Parents of current Year 6 students enrolled in government primary schools are provided all necessary information to complete the registration from their primary schools.

If your home is located within our school zone, you are usually offered entry to Henley High School.

If Henley High School is not your zoned school, you may still nominate Henley as 1 of 3 non-local secondary school preferences. Enrolment is only offered if we have enough resources and places for non-local students.

Students who are allocated to Henley High School are advised during Term 3. After this, we will make contact with you to ensure you and your child are ready to start with us in Term 1 of the following year.

Take a look at the Department for Education’s website for more information about the transition process.

Did you miss the department’s process?

If you moved into our zone after the start of Term 3, or have missed or are unable to complete the state-wide transition process for some other reason, you can register your interest for your child to enrol at Henley High School for Year 7 for the following year by completing our Enrolment Request Form. This is only a registration of interest for enrolment and is not an offer of enrolment for your child.

If your home is located within our school zone, you are usually offered entry to Henley High School and we will be in touch. If your home is located outside of our school zone, we will only contact you if we have enough resources and places for non-local students.

My child is in Year 6 and attends a non-government primary school

If you are applying after the start of Term 3, you should complete our Enrolment Request Form. This is only a registration of interest for enrolment and is not an offer of enrolment for your child.

If your home is located within our school zone, you are usually offered entry to Henley High School and we will be in touch. If your home is located outside of our school zone, we will only contact you if we have enough resources and places for non-local students.

My child attends high school and is currently in Year 7-12

If your child is a current high school student in Year 7-12 and you would like to enrol at Henley High School, you should complete our Enrolment Request Form. This is only a registration of interest for enrolment and is not an offer of enrolment for your child.

Entry is managed by Henley High School, in collaboration with our Partnership Director.
