2024 Ron Parsons Awards

2024 Ron Parsons Award

Supported by Ray White, Henley Beach

Samuel Parsons of Ray White Henley Beach kindly donates this award to acknowledge a student athlete who exhibits the traits Ron did. That is, a leader and positive role model with strong work ethic and integrity, a positive attitude and outlook, and a willingness to always help others.

Ron had been a well-established pillar of our community, with a strong family connection to the school. Ron was the loving Grandfather of both Ms Georgia Parsons (Graduate, 2012) a well respected teacher and current member of staff, and Mr Samuel Parsons (Graduate, 2008) and was a part of our Soccer Academy.

Ron was a servant of our community where he umpired the Cricket Academy matches for over 15 years. He would also keep a close eye on the Golf Academy with his free time spent on the Golf Course at Grange. Ron loved everything sport entailed, the competitiveness, keeping fit and healthy, and mateship.

2024 Dian McMurtrie

2024 Dian McMurtrie Award

The Dian McMurtrie Award is presented annually to a Year 7-11 Sports Academy student athlete who underpins the quality of striving for excellence in their sporting and academic pursuits receiving the highest GPA in Semester 1.

The Dian McMurtrie Award was established in 2021 to honour Dian, an alumna of Henley High School (2007-2011). Dian embodied the qualities of a student-athlete and served as an exceptional role model for her peers and young athletes. She dedicated five years to the Surf Life Saving and Swimming Academy, served as a House Leader, Year 12 School Prefect, and achieved the title of Dux of Year 12 in 2011.

In 2019, Dian’s life was tragically cut short. She will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her, as someone who consistently pursued excellence in all her endeavours. Dian’s name continues to live on here at Henley High School as our High Performance Sports Centre was named in her honour.
