Henley High School provides opportunities for students to participate in a number of Interstate or International excursions.  These excursions are to give students an educational experience outside of the mainstream school programs and encourages intercultural understanding.

Taste the World - Overseas Experience to Italy with a Focus on Traditional Italian Food

Brief description of highlights

This two week Italian food experience covers the Tuscany region of Italy as well as visit significant historical sites in Rome of the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Novona, Pantheon and Vatican. The trip is organised and run through the company Taste Cook Travel.

Students will sample traditional Italian cuisine, have authentic pizza and pasta in restaurants as well as make their own home cooked meals working with local people and chef's. There will be visits to local produce farms where small goods, saffron, olive oil and pasta are produced, all done on a private air conditioned bus. The main accommodation is in a 600 year old villa on the outskirts of Florence in restored dwellings.

During the trip students will be able to apply their knowledge gained from their experiences when they make their main meals and then be able to come back to school as use these skills in Food and Hospitality and Catering courses, and be able to apply them at home for their families!
