Year 9 Visual Art Student Mia Caputo acknowledged in the Young Archie 2024

Congratulations to Mia Caputo for receiving an Honourable Mention in the 2024 Junior Archibald Prize (the Young Archie) for her portrait of her sister. Mia’s work was recognised from more than 4000 entries from all over Australia.

This is what Mia has written about her artwork:

I decided to enter the Young Archie contest and submitted a graphite portrait of my younger sister Gabby. I chose to depict Gabby as I have a very special bond with her and love her very much. The picture shows Gabby looking up to the side with a hopeful and interested expression on her face. This all started when my grandma told me about the Junior Archibald contest. It was her pride and confidence in me that encouraged me to put my art out in the world. I am so grateful to be given this opportunity and so thankful for the judges for picking me.
